PARERGON 1624 historical atlas plus NOMENCLATOR
The 1624 Latin Parergon contains 44 maps, followed by the Nomenclator Ptolemaicus and Lhuyd’s treatise De Mona Druidum in one original old binding, and includes the 4 Peutinger maps which only occur in this edition.
The atlas is bound in old original calf leather and the spine is provided with stamps, embellished with gold. The spine and the edges and corners of the binding show signs of wear, but the overall condition of the binding is good. The atlas opens widely, so that the maps are flat and can be inspected optimally. The Parergon and the Nomenclator are both complete in terms of maps (44) and texts, the printing is in good and sharp black and white with deep plate marks, on clean white paper with very wide margins. A few maps have minor blemishes as indicated below and the edge of left margins show irregular small stains. Overall condition is excellent and unusual for a complete atlas like this one.
